Today we're talking websites. Specifically, WIX websites, why we love them, and why we think you should use them too!
I’ve been using Wix.com as my website platform for probably five years now, and I truly feel like I've really been able to grow with the platform as they have grown and developed. There are a LOT of different website building platforms out there—Squarespace, WordPress, GoDaddy, there's tons of them!—and I've tried a handful of them as well.
That said, the one I like the best, hands down, is Wix. It's a super intuitive platform and, as an interior designer who is comfortable with visually arranging things, it's a super easy system to use because the entire thing is drag and drop. No coding, no web languages to learn...just...drag it, and drop it. Tada!
It's actually free to get your website started, and then you can pay for it once you know you like the platform and want to commit. It's very inexpensive as well, something like a $150/year.

What I’d recommend, if you’re not yet familiar with wix, is to utilize what they called the artificial intelligence website designer. Basically, they have you answer a bunch of questions about your industry, brand, the way you work, and then if you have a Facebook page, you can link to it and it will actually pull information from your business on the web.
Here’s where the magic happens: it will then actually BUILD YOU a website template utilizing colors from your logo and the other information you input. How cool is that? Of course it's not going to be exactly how you need it to be, but it's a great way to get your initial base of a website created, and you can then go in and just tweak little things, rather than trying to create your own completely custom site from scratch. I did this exact thing for my own website about two years ago when I rebranded, and it was such a great way to get started.
Now let’s talk User Experience (UX), which is basically how easy or difficult it is for people to maneuver through your website and understand where they're supposed to go. This is super important to getting visitors to stay ON your website, explore your website, and eventually, to get them to hire you!
There are some really simple things you can do to make your website easier for people to understand and work through, including helping them understand HOW to hire you. We actually have another freebie for you from our sister company, QuickSites.co, all about Building a Website that Sells.
This outline will walk you through everything from what you should have in your header, what you should have is your first strip, your second strip, etc. It’s full of great visuals and diagrams as well, which I appreciate as a VISUAL person (you are going to hear that a lot!).
We did the exact updates from this freebie to our website probably about a year ago, and it works like a charm! Visitors to our website know exactly what they're supposed to do when they get there, which is to fill out our project intake form. This gives us everything that we need in order to contact them and hopefully set up a consultation, which, of course, is the goal!
Other awesome things you can do with wix:
If you want to see an example of an interior design website created through wix (side note: this website is also a wix website!), you can head to my personal interior design website at www.LFdesigns.co.
Lastly, if this sounds great, but you simply don’t have TIME to figure out how to use wix and want to get something created and launched QUICKLY, you can head also to our sister site, QuickSites.co (specializing in Wix websites), and get your new site created in literally 24 hours! (Yeah, they truly put the QUICK in QuickSites.co!).
Much love, lovelies!
